Acknowledgement of First Nations People

Next Lane acknowledges Australia’s First Peoples as the original and ongoing custodians of the lands and waters on which we live and work.

We recognise the ongoing sovereignty of First Peoples in Australia and their inherent right to self-determination.

We are committed to fulfilling our responsibility in fostering a national dialogue rooted in truth, one that honours the history, culture, and rights of First Peoples, both for today and future generations.

We extend our respect to all Elders—past, present, and emerging—and to all First Peoples and communities.

Apology to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Next Lane acknowledges that Australia’s First Peoples, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, are the traditional owners and custodians of the land. We express profound sorrow for the mistreatment and trauma that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have endured and continue to face as a result of colonisation and land dispossession.

We recognise the painful legacy of past policies and practices that sought to remove children from their families, which have deeply impacted the heart and spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We honor the strength, resilience, and perseverance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the face of these ongoing injustices.
